Hi, I’ve installed whiist and can run the program but it doesn’t change my picture. What am i doing wrong?

Easiest way is to throw a monitor on the server and go into c://inetpub/wwwroot/images and find the one with “main” in the title, edit it or create a new photoshop image at the same size and replace the default with one named exactly the same, took me 5 minutes and works best!

I’m not having any luck with this Add-in. When I try to add a website, I click the “browse” button when choosing the share folder to use, and it just hangs. Any ideas? I can’t cancel or anything.

First of all let me say thanks for a nice app, everything worked well. This issue is user related, when Whiist creates the index.html page how do I create a link on that page to allow users to click on the link and be taken to the data that resides in a sub directory one level deeper than Whiist, thanks.

The “bigger” features you mentioned above will complete the picture I have in mind for my Windows Home Server. a) Access to all my files, securely, from anywhere. b) Access to all my pictures (never taken a 35mm since 1996) from anywhere and the ability to securely share them with family members, c) A family blog to share stories and pictures.

The sooner you are done the closer I am to meeting my goal.

Hi Pete,

In answer to your questions;

1) You can do this within the Remote Access Settings panel of the WHS console.

2) If you want to have a list of available albums, and separate permissions for each, the only way to do this would be to create a webpage that listed all albums with a link to each.

Andrew, great stuff. I do have a couple questions. 1) Is there a way to easily change the title on the server home page? For example, you have “Andrews Test Server”. How do I access that?

2) I am using an HP Mediasmart Server. It comes with a PhotoWebshare utility. The interface and upload is aweful. I liked the functionality of yours, but I would really like to have it set up to show all albums on one page and have security access to each one. Is that possible with your tool?

Changing the image for the home page seems to stay with the Windows Home Server logo. In Whiist I changed the image but it remains the same. I remoted into the server to find the image I want is where its supposed to be but will not display on my login page.

Hi Andrew

I really like your Whiist add-in and have used it to create some nice picture pages on my home server.
I’m so impressed with the way pictures are presented, that I would like to use the same format to show pictures on my main Family Photos web page.
Is it possible to re-create this style of page on an external web page? Or is it only available on a WHS?
I would run it all from my WHS, but its too slow.

Just an FYI….if you have an older version of Wiist, you must uninstall it before installing 0.8…If you don’t uninstall the old version, you will not be able to see or access the settings tab for Wiist in order to chnage the website picture. I know because I went through the whole yhing and finally figured I had to uninstall version 0.78 and then re-install 0.8. Now it works. Good work Andy!
