I have the exact setup, MCE machine, but I went for a motherboard with onboard HDMI, HD video etc and a small hard drive, then link it to the WHS for the media storage.

Be careful of the Atom processor, I dont think it has the legs to run the affair ! I stuck with a dual core and 4GB Ram. Think the 4GB is overkill but I happened to have the memory hanging around.

Here is exactly what you need for Plan B. I can’t take credit for this build, but I built an identical machine (well mine has x2 5000+) and it handles anything I can throw at it.

Hi Ruud,

Yes I’m quite interested in trying out an atom-based machine in a media center. After Christmas I’m going to look into some of the benchmarks and see how feasible it is.

ever thought of using a Asus E-box?
At the moment (dec 08) sold with xp installed for 250 euro.
I think a complete system can’t be any smaller than this…
